My 1st PTI Card!!!

When I started card-making this past fall, I found inspiration on various blogs and then started my own.  One of my first inspirations was Dawn McVey!!  I adore everything she does!!  Through her I discovered Papertrey Ink--I've been drooling over their stamps and other goodies for months.  But as a frugal papercrafter, I kept denying the temptation.  However,  I finally bit the bullet last week and made my first order!!!  I got my goodies in the mail yesterday and couldn't wait to start crafting.

I ordered 3 stamp sets--Signature Greetings, Big & Bold Wishes (both of which were designed by Dawn) & Tiny Treats: Valentine.  I wanted to delve into all of them, so the first card I made uses something from each of the sets.  I made this for my cousin's little girl who's turning 6 on Sunday.
Card base cardstock is PTI's Berry Sorbet (aqua cardstock is K&Company).  It's my first real attempt at colouring too--just used some Crayola crayons (used a white one to do some blending) to bring that cupcake to life.  SU! Chocolate Chip ink; Martha Stewart ribbon tape.

Now, this second card I made is for the current PTI challenge over on Nichole Heady's blog.  It's PTI's 3rd Anniversary, so they've been spoiling their fans with great news all week!!  Today's challenge is the first of their new Make It Mondays Challenges.  Nichole gave us a tutorial on the Emboss Resist technique.  I had tried this before, but wasn't that successful; however, Nichole made it look so easy, so I gave it another try.

I stamped the sentiment (from Signature Greetings) and the little heart (from Tiny Treats) onto white cardstock, then heat set it with embossing powder.  I then rubbed on some Distress Ink--first 'Old Paper', then 'Worn Lipstick'.  I cut out the heart shape (free hand); inked the edges with more DI in 'Walnut Stain' and distressed it some more with the edge of my scissors.  Cardstock is again PTI's Berry Sorbet--stamped SU! Love definition background stamp with Versamark; patterned paper was from my scrap drawer; the ribbon was from the Michaels sales bin (very close to Berry Sorbet); Fiskars borderpunch.
I'm completely exhausted tonight, so I'm off to soak in a bubble bath with a good book.  I hope to spend a good time tomorrow playing some more with my new PTI goodies!!!

Thanks 4 your time!
