CFC67

Another Friday means a new CAS-ual Friday challenge!  This week is about Banners and Flags.
I made this card in under 10 minutes!--I love when patterned paper does most of the work!!:

I've been getting requests to make more cards geared at teens--I hope this one works!

LRW#147 -- Upcycle

Happy Wednesday! It's my turn this week to host the challenge over at Little Red Wagon . . .

My challenge for you is: RECYCLE any household items (or other items you wouldn't normally find in your favourite papercrafting store or aisle).

For those of you who visit my blog often enough and know my style, I'm ALL about being frugal and UP-cycling items. I've been known to use the top of Klennex boxes, magazine images, clothing tags, etc. The possibilities are really endless . . . coffee filters, toothpicks, bottle caps, packaging, etc.

I have small stash of clothing tags reserved to use on my projects, so for today's piece, I chose this rugged tag from H&M:
It's not the focus of my layout, but it does add some texture and another layer to my page:
To clarify my title, my family is Portuguese (YES, hard to believe when I'm a red-head, but it's true!). The word "joia" means jewel--both my boys are my precious jewels (my DH suggested I add gems to the page--gotta give him credit for that). I call Caden my "little joia" and my older son Owen my "big joia"
I added the definition strip so Caden would never forget the nickname's meaning:

So go on scour your house (beyond your scrappy place) and think of a way to RECYCLE an item into a beautiful papercrafting project. Then head on over the LRW blog to link it up there.Be sure to also visit our other DT member's blogs for some great inspiration.

CR84FN #61

The new colour challenge at CR84FN include some of my favourites.  In fact, I'm currently using this colour scheme for our kids bathroom--beach theme.  We're going to paint tomorrow, so I'll have to edit this post and include some photos.

Here's my card using these colours (I used PTI's Aqua Mist--a bit lighter than the challenge suggests):

LRW #146 Dog Days of Summer

I'm away at my DH's aunt's cottage for the week enjoying the "dog days of summer" and how appropriate that Jan's challenge this week over at Little Red Wagon is . . .
Dog Days of Summer - use an animal

My son is fascinated with whales lately, so I thought of him when making this card

There are a TON of great animal images out there; I'm sure you have some lying around in your wagon (on patterned paper, diecuts, stamps, digi images, etc).  So join us in this week's challenge.
Be sure to check out what the other LRW gals have created for some inspiration.

Embellish Challenge-Buttons

This is my first attempt at the current Embellish challenge with buttons.
I'm realizing now that the colour was suppose to be more purple than pink--I was remembering more the inspiration photo than the colour swatch!
I heat embossed the white doilies

I have another idea in mind.  Going to hit the treadmill this morning, then off to my son's last soccer game before prepping for our dinner guests tonight.  We'll see if I can squeeze in the idea that's brewing in my mind!!

Scrapbooking catch-up

It's been MONTHS since I've had the chance to do some scrapbook layouts, and I finally had the chance to do so this week.  I used Two Scrapbook Friends Olympic Challenges they have going on over at their Forum.

This one is for the Highs and Lows challenge--use chevrons (which reflects the ups and downs the athletes face during the Games):
 Close up on my title:
This one is for the "It's a Ringer" challenge--highlighting the Olympic Rings by using circles on our layout:

This one is for the "True Colours" challenge--use colours of your country's flag:

This one is actually a sketch challenge that Jayne posted--it includes 3 images/panels that reflect the Olympic podium, and also includes 5 rings (or in my case--circles) and a flag:
This one is for the "Water" challenge--Joanne's favourite sport to watch is Swimming--so she challenged us to create any layout that included water:
I wish I had some dew drops to mimic water droplets, but the gems will do, I guess.

Hope to have some more time tonight to continue playing along--gotta get it done now before school starts back up!!

Thanks 4 your time!

LRW #145 - Watermelon

One of the best things about summer is all the great summer fruit, and Joanne has challenged us this week at Little Red Wagon to use one of her favourite fruits in our project -- WATERMELON!

I was stumped at first on what to do, but then I remembered a tag I had created using a watermelon when I guest designed for Two Scrapbook Friends last summer (see here).  It was attached to a clear bag of watermelon gummies. The candies are long gone; however, I kept the tag somewhere in my stash, so I went digging.  I tied a bow to the top of the tag and then added it to a card base that I stamped with a background definition image with Versamark.  Easy peasy!!

Speaking of fresh summer goodness, here's a look at what's been growing like crazy in our vegetable garden.
I'm a novice at growing vegetables; I didn't know you should snip off the tips of tomato plants to ensure the lower buds grow into larger tomatoes.  As a result, I have these MASSIVE tomato plants with HUNDREDS of small marinara tomatoes.  In the last few days, I have been collecting this many tomatoes each day.  I'm make lots of cucumber tomato salads--YUM!  I'm also blending them up and jarring them to make sauces later on this fall!!

Any way, hope you can play along with our WATERMELON challenge.  Be sure to check out with the other LRW gals have created using this great summer fruit!!

RIC #17

What a gorgeous dress posted for the new Runway Inspired Challenge . . . check it out:
Isin't it stunning!  Not sure if I could pull it off--but the colour, softness, and fluttery feeling are definitely inspirational!

Here's my card:

CR84FN #60

I have a couple of posts today, so stay tuned!!
Right now I have my submission for the current CR84FN challenge.

I rarely complete a one-layered card that I'm satisfied with; however, I really like how this one turned out (not completely one-layered though--I had to add some bling)

CFC#64--On Cloud 9

This week's Casual Friday challenge is called On Cloud 9--it asks us to create "Clean And Simple projects featuring things you'd see in the sky".  I thought this card I made at my PTI crop a couple of weekends ago suited this challenge.
Happy Friday!!

CR84FN #59

If you're here for the LRW Weekly Challenge Post--please scroll down!

I haven't played along with the CR84FN challenges in some time, so it's great to be able to submit something this time around.  Here's their current challenge:
 I made a wine tag:
In the photo, the ink and the dark circle behind the doily looks black, but I assure you it's dark brown.  I inked up the edges of the cream tag for the "tan" colour.

LRW #144 -- Girlfriend's Card

Is it just me, or is this summer flyin' by????  Can't believe it's Wednesday again already!!!
Time for another Little Red Wagon challenge my friends!!

This week Dee has challenged us to create a card for a girlfriend.

Easy peasy, right?  Anything feminine works, right?
Dee's birthday is this month, so why not make a birthday card to boot!
When Papertrey Ink recently released their vase dies, I thought they looked great on cards,
but at the same time, I thought,  "Heck, I can free cut my own!", and that's just what I did.
I wanted to try the vase with my PTI "Year of Flowers" stamp set, and here's how it turned out:
I may still order the set of Vase dies, but for now, this will do.
Since I took this photo, I added some glossy accents to the vase to make it look like glass (camera battery is dead right now, so I can't take a photo).  Believe me, it looks good!!

We all need a Girlfriend birthday card on hand, so join in the fun and participate in this week's challenge.
Be sure to check out with the rest of the LRW design team has created for some inspiration.
