LRW #143 - Chevrons

Happy Wednesday all!  Time for another Little Red Wagon challenge!  This week Rosanne is challenging us to use Chevrons.

I don't think I've ever really used Chevrons, not intentionally anyway --surprising given how it seems to have been all the rage the last few months.  So I didn't have to dig too deep to find some chevron paper to play with.  I actually ended up making 2 different cards.
This is one of those cards that I'm still mulling over; I think I may stitch the edge of the banners.

Hope you can find some time to play with us gals. Check out what the other DT gals created with Chevrons, and then be sure to link you project back to the Little Red Wagon site by next Tuesday.

Thanks 4 your time!

RIC #16 -- BCBG Max Azria

Made this card today in under 10 minutes (love that).  It's a bit of a stretch from the inspiration photo from the current Runway Inspired Challenge, but I was drawn to the teal colours and the pop of pink in her shoes:
I imitated the stripes on the dress with the repeated sentiment stamped with versamark, as well as the diagonally striped patterned paper.
I found these cute glitter duckies at Michaels today for $1.29--can't beat that (a sheet of 16, I think).

Off to make dinner!  Hope I can make another 10 minute card before bed-time tonight!!
Stay tuned tomorrow for the new Little Red Wagon challenge!

PTI Stamp-a-faire

This past weekend I had a blast at a local PTI Stamp-a-faire organized by the wonderful Dee of Dee's Paper Tree (see her blog post about the event here)

She and few other great ladies put together a great day, which included some of these paper goodies.

Avril made us this great gable box with goodies inside donated by a number of the gals at the full day crop!
This uber cute paper tent was one of the centre pieces I got to take home.  There were also some great paper campers too!
In keeping with the summer camp theme,  Rosanne (fellow LRW DT member) made this cute S'mores package for each of us:

It was a very productive day for me--I made about 22 cards and a chipboard mini-album!!!
I didn't quite follow along with the challenges posted from Papertrey Ink that day; I just focused on having the time to play with some great PTI stamps and paper!!  Some of my creations will be featured in future posts, but here's a sneak peak:

I'm about to post a card I made today in under 10 minutes for the Runway Inspired Challenge--stay tuned!!

LRW #142 -- Scrappy Packaging

Yikes!  I'm a tad late (okay-2 days late) on this post.  I was away with the family for a few fabulous days at the beach (one on Georgian Bay and one on Lake Huron), and I forgot to schedule this post before we left.

Any way, this week at

Regan has challenged us to use the Pretty Packaging from our scrappy purchases into our creations.

I sort of bent the rules a bit here (Me? Bend the rules? No way!!--LOL).
I used packaging to create new packaging for a set of gift cards I made.  Now, what I did was by NO means my idea.  I used the plastic box from a Papertrey Ink stamp set, which  I have seen their own design team do countless times.  I kept it VERY simple--just added a big bow!  But it suited the CAS cards in the set inside.

Okay, I hate this next card, but I had to salvage it somehow--my son found by distress ink and got a spot in the card when I wasn't looking, so I tried to create a distressed background.  Arghh, was I mad!!
Here's the complete set.  I made it for a door prize for a year end  event at my school.

SO, before you ditch you packaging, think of how you can used them in a project.  It's a great way to recycle!!  Be sure to check out the amazing "recycling" the other LRW girlfriends did!

Thanks 4 your time!

LRW #141 -- Christmas in July!

Well, you've likely been seeing the famous "Christmas in July" Sales around (whether online or IRL) . . . the crafting challenge world is no exception!  Over at Little Red Wagon, Judy has challenged us this week with this very theme:

Christmas in July
Make any type of Christmas Card

I have to admit, the weather has not helped with getting me inspired to create anything Christmas-y. In addition, I actually pack my Christmas stamps away in a box under my desk in the "off-season", so I actually had to dig it out.  Needless to say, I was praying to the mojo-gods to send me some Christmas creativity.  My prayers were answered with a visit to the library with my kiddos yesterday. I picked up a Christmas edition of Papercrafts magazine to help with some inspiration.  I love doing that when I'm in a creative-mojo slump--although it doesn't always work, it did yesterday.  I took some key elements from various cards, and came up with this:
My sewing machine has been VERY temperamental lately and STOPPED working on my as I was doing my zigzag stitch!  ARGHHH!  I decided to add the pop of red ribbon to cover up the part of the panel that wasn't stitched. I guess it works okay--meh!?! I would have preferred it without, but the rest of the panel was already put together and I didn't want to start from scratch.

Hope you can join us this week with our Christmas challenge.  If you're lacking mojo yourself--be sure to check the rest of the DT's creations for some inspiration (check links on my sidebar).

RIC #15

Wow! I got another challenge done!  I have not done as much crafting as I thought I would get done, but I think I needed my first week of holidays just to decompress.

Any way, when flipping through the current issue of ELLE Canada magazine,  I found a sample of what looked like the pattern of the Lacoste design on this week's Runway Inspired Challenge

So, I tore the page out of the magazine, and after adhering the mag. page onto some thin cardstock, I punched out some butterflies
Here's a close up of the pattern:

CFC--60

This week's new challenge for Casual Fridays is all about using TEXT.  As an English teacher, I have to admit it is one of my favourite elements on cards--especially using old book print.

I made this card with a bunch of butterflies punched out of just that--an old book.  I also stamped old script onto the card base (hard to see well in the photo).

Here's another one I made using more of the book print TEXT.   I love the stamped image on it.
Wow--one challenge done this week--it's a miracle!!  ;)
I think I need to stay inside my craft room where it's cool--it's 35 degrees C today; feels like 40!!
Hope you're staying cool where ever you are!

Thanks 4 your time!

LRW #140--Life's a Beach

Happy Summer everyone!!  Let's celebrate it with this week's Little Red Wagon challenge,
(which I'm hosting) called,

Life's a BEACH!  Let the beach inspire your creation this week!!

I took the challenge title quite literally when creating my card.

I hand cut my little flip flops, and added glossy accents and reg gems to the thong parts.
Although I didn't take a photo of the inside of the card, my favourite part of this was
the inside sentiment, which was:
". . . and sometimes, life's a B!#@H!  Thanks for your support!"
I gave it to my vice-principal to thank her for all of her support with some of my rather challenging students this past semester; the beach theme was appropriate for a summer holidays card too!

Any who, hope you can join in the fun this week.
Check out the LRW blog to link up your project,
and check out what the rest of the talented DT created!!

Late on the Runway challenge

I've been so looking forward to the summer holidays so that I actually have some time to complete some of my favourite challenges out there; alas, the first one I actually get done is too late!!

I think this is precisely why I've not been around the blog-o-sphere as much as I used to--I have constant deadlines/due dates as a teacher, and the pressure sometimes of creating something, taking a photo of it, uploading and then posting about it was taking the fun out of the hobby itself.  So I've taken some time away (as you may have noticed--just my weekly posts for LRW), and I've given myself permission to just enjoy the challenges/inspiration out there.  Who cares if I post them late or EVER!!  LOL.

I'm simply appreciating any time I have to create. Period.  Any way . . .  here's what first inspired me
I'm not a shoe-gal myself, but the GF I'm giving this card to sure is (not that there's a shoe on the card, but she loves a great drink too).  Here's my card:
I love how Glossy Accents can make thinks look like glass--perfect for this image!!

So, I hope you enjoyed this card, even if it won't be seen on the Runway Inspired challenge blog.  Maybe I'll get their new challenge done--haha, don't hold your breath!

Thanks 4 your time!
