365 Cards -- Day #245 It's a Matter of Inches

Today's challenge is to make an "inchie" as the card or part of the card.  I made this little love note card for my husband a few weeks ago; he's kept it tucked in his wallet ever since.  So whether he's pulling out his bank card or grabbing some change for his morning coffee run, he has a little reminder of how much I love him--aww, how cheesy ;)   Any-who, this was such an easy card to whip up. 

Supplies:

All cardstock was scrap from my stash; "xoxo" Calligraphy Cricut cartridge set at 1"; red rhinestones from a dollar store; foam adhesive.

365 Cards--Day #244-3 Transparent Items

So yesterday was my first 365 challenge, and I've just finished today's.  This is dangerous; I think I'm hooked ;)
Today's challenge was to "Use at least 3 different items that are transparent to a degree - plastic, buttons, vellum . . ." .  I created a Holiday card.  I saw the red/brown/cream colour combo on someone's blog the other day (forgot to save the link though) and really wanted to try it.  I also challenged myself to use my scraps--which I did, except for the notecard.
The 3 transparent items I used were:  Vellum window with stamped snowflakes; Ribbon; and the semi-transparent button.

365 Cards--Day # 243 Beautiful Bouquet

This is my first 365 Cards challenge!  The challenge was to create a type of bouquet of flowers for the card, so when I looked at the flowered patterned paper I used, it was begging to be cut up into a little bouquet.  The card is definitely inspired by Kristina Werner's work--I've been following her blog for a while.  She gave me the idea to use various layers of foam adhesive pieces to add dimension to the flowers.  This was a super easy card to create, and I'm pleased with the results!

Moxie Fab World: Plum Crazy Challenge

I just made this card last night for a friend whose grandmother just passed away, and then Cathy posted this Plum colour challenge today.  I've fallen in love with this colour in the last few months--first when I bought the dress I'm wearing in my family photo you can see on my sidebar.  There's something regal yet fun about the colour.  I found the hydrangea petals at the bottom of an old craft box I had in storage--I used them for my wedding 6 years ago.  I love the richness of the plum with the softness of the lavendar paired together.

Paper: grey notecard, DCWV; cream cardstock, Recollections; denim patterned paper, ??   Ink: Distress Ink-Walnut Stain; Colorbox-Dragonfly Black; Top Boss Embossing Stamp Pad   Stamps: "my sympathy", Heidi Grace-Greetings; flower border stamp repeated on cream, Stampology   Embellishments: brad, Making Memories; flowers from my craft stash; ribbon--get this!--repurposed from the ribbon stitched inside a sweater I bought--you know, the ribbon on the shoulder seam to help you hang up the sweater on a hanger--huh?

I'm thinking I'll have to put in a couple of entries for this challenge since I found more "plum" goodies on my scrap-shop trip today--stay tuned!

Halloween Cookie Treat Bags

Tomorrow is my son Owen's "special day" at pre-school.  He gets to bring something in for show-n-tell and snacks for the rest of the class.  He'll be taking some healthy snacks, like banana muffins, cheese and fruit, but since we're so close to Halloween, I thought he could bring in a special treat for his classmates-Chocolate Chip Oatmeal cookies.  It's only a class of 9 kids, so it wasn't so bad to create the little bag tags and make a batch of cookies--I made the tags last week.

I'm happy with how they turned out, and I hope the kids like them!

Moxie Fab World: "Not Your Regular Ruffles" Challenge

So when I saw this challenge, the idea of using flower petals popped into my head right away.  I had no idea how it would turn out; I just knew I wanted to use petals.  I just cut the petals from a pink gerber daisy--bought at a dollar store--and layered them to create a sort of ruffled skirt look.  After I created the card, I thought, it would look totally cute for a ballerina tutu style card--I may just have to make one for my dancer friend.  I feel like I still have to add to this card--I might add some stitching before I give this card away, but I wanted to meet the challenge deadline.
This is my first Moxie challenge--looking forward to the next one!

Christmas Card Gift Sets

   When my two boys are in bed, I venture off to the basement to my crafting corner, turn on the tube, often crack open a can of Pepsi, and start creating.  This fall I started making sets of Christmas cards--I've been giving them as gifts to family and friends to use this holiday season.  I find inspiration everywhere from blogs to magazines, flyers to merchandise tags.  Hopefully you can find some inspiration here.
    Each of these sets has a different style; I've tried to create some to suit the personality of the friend or family member for whom they were created.

I absolutely love Dawn McVey's cards, so why not have my first post be a response to one of her card challenges--Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #18:

Now, the colour in the photo is making the raspberry look more orange (sorry).

Supplies-- this is where I'm the novice--I don't always keep packaging/labels, so I've forgotten where half of them have come from.
Cardstock: I bought the green cardstock at a garage sale, so I have no clue as to name of colour or company; Raspberry patterned cardstock ???
